I have over ten thousand hours of face to face client therapy facilitation time during my career and additional time in other care provider capacities.
During my time as an undergraduate, I worked and volunteered as a case manager in support of homeless families at the Homeless Empowerment Relational Organization of Southeastern Michigan and as a childcare worker with SafeHouse, a Domestic Violence Shelter. I also worked for many years as a support worker (home visits) for families who have lost their primary breadwinner. During and after graduate school, I worked as an outpatient therapist for adolescents, adults, couples and families at a private practice in a rural community in Michigan.
After moving to Oregon, I facilitated individual and group therapy for adolescents with substance use and mental health issues for three and half years at Catherine Freer Wilderness Therapy Program (CFWTP) in Albany, Oregon. I also facilitated daylong multi-family group therapy sessions and provided case management services connecting parents and aftercare providers.
My private practice began in 2006. During the first few years, I also worked part time for Providence St Vincent Hospital in Portland as a therapist in their chemical dependency and eating disorder day programs.
I have been involved in Usui Reiki energy work since 1996 as a student, practitioner, and eventually Reiki Master for many years.
